TPTB need to do whatever needs to be done to get TK back as Zach...
What a loss for AMC....Pine Valley...
Let's face it... Zach is a unique character......& Zendall are the hottest couple in daytime.....no one else comes close...JMHO
I haven't watched the show since they left, but reading others thoughts & opinions, the show is seriously lacking with them gone..
There is no "REAL" male lead.....
No red hot couple....
I miss TK/Zach, AM/KEndall, Team Slater....
I want them back with great writing, good s/l, that don't involve them having to prop, pimp the waste like Ryass or GL.....
I truly hope that a deal can be struck before AM returns...and if not, I truly hope that Kendall doesn't get strapped with Rylee propping duties...
I guess, considering what TPTB are capable of, I hope that Kendall only returns to finish business, say goodbye one last time, & heads back to Zach & the boys...
I would love to see ABC invest in a half hour soap....a spin off of AMC, starring the Slaters.... There new life outside of PV....filmed in NY or CT.... They could have the Hubbards move whereever the Slaters are, bring on new characters, great writers, and tell compelling stories........without the dregs of AMC sucking the life out of it...
No Team Slater return to PV, then give then their own show, bring the Hubbards along... Hell, bring Brook too and lets see that show knock AMC, OLTL, & GH off the ratings charts...
Whose in for this....
I would so watch a new soap, revolving around The Slaters......with no Ryass, no GL, no Annie, No Fake Liza......but with good writers, and no Frons interference...
A fan can dream can't we...

I agree with you and everyone else that Zach should come back to AMC, but I think it's time that we as fans acept that he won't be returning as Zach. AMC is going to have to find a suitable replacement, as unlikely as it seems. I do believe that Thorsten Kaye will stay in NY with his wife and kids, so we need to accept it and move on. He will be missed, but that's the nature of this business. Afterall, I was head over hills in love with Sarah Michelle Gellar as Kendall and was not pleased, at first, when they recast her with Alicia. But as time went on, Alicia Menshew grew on me and I think she has done a wonderful job as Kendall. Same goes when they replaced Janet from another Planet all those years ago with Robin Mattson from 1994-2000. She actually, in my opinion, did a better job than the original, Kate Collins. So, let's just pray and cross our fingers that AMC can find a diamond in the rough to replace Thorsten. It's a hard task, but it's not completely impossible.

Speaking only for myself here...
No One Will Ever, Can Ever Replace TK as Zach Slater....
I will never accept any other actor in the role...
TK is amazing...and the character of Zach is absolutely magnificient...
AMC can do what they want, but replacing TK as Zach will come back to bite them..... just like if they try to replace AM/KEdnall...
No substitutes need apply, they won't be accepted... NEVER...

I don't think AMC has any plans of replacing Alicia Menshew, but my point was we as fans can't make Thorsten Kaye stay with the show. We may love the actor's portrayal of a character, but sometimes we have to accept that they want to move on with something else. Kendall, Opal, Janet, Jake, Liza, Scott, JR, Travis Montgomery, Colby, and even fan favorite Dixie were all originally played by another actor. We may have not liked the recast at first, but in most cases they were eventually accepted...some even more loved than the original portrayer. I will mis TK as much as anyone else, but if he doesn't wish to stay then no one can make him. As they say, "The show must go on." I have too many years invested in AMC to stop watching because of one character. I have griped and moaned about people leaving in the past but I still watch, because there is something special about AMC and I can't give up on them....not yet.

I'm repeating what I"ve said in other threads, but I'm happy to do it here, too.
It takes two parties to make a deal, or sign a contract, and sometimes the timing isn't right, the terms aren't right and circumstances are such where one or both is/aren't able to make the deal happen. When RB left AMC because she'd just gotten married and her husband was on the west coast, the timing wasn't right for her to be on AMC while it was being shot in NY. And then she came back, probably because the terms of her return worked for her. Same with Eden Riegel. When she wanted to be in CA to be with her husband, she left AMC, but she also came back to AMC--many times, actually--because ABC worked something out with her.
I will not believe that nothing can ever be worked out between TK and ABC. I've worked too many years in the corporate world to believe that when I've seen the exact opposite happen (deals you thought were dead came back to life when you didn't expect it), and boy oh boy, it's happened ALOT on AMC. Cameron Mathison left to get himself a primetime career, and when that didn't pan out, he returned to AMC because the timing was right, the money was right, and circumstances had changed.
As a result, it's pretty useless for anyone to tell me to accept that TK is not ever going to be back on AMC. It ain't gonna happen. :-)

I agree. TK was not able to agree to go to LA last fall for whatever reason... but who knows what will happen for the future. I also refuse to give up hope..and it has nothing to do with not respecting TK's decision to stay in NY NOW.
But as Gator said..who knows what will change in the future. Life is not static and many people who left AMC and many other soaps came back because their situations changed. TK's reasons for staying in NY might change as well. His reason's for not wanting to sign might change. ABC might have more $$ to shell out. Maybe Susan won't want to be on OLTL anymore..Who knows?
So while I have no interest in forcing TK to come back against his will - I respect the man too much..... I don't think it's a stretch to hope he will return at some point in the future.
There is no guarantee of course..but I don't see where asking for his return and reminding TPTB how much we miss him would be anything but a positive thing.

I'm not trying to say that I want to force TK into coming back... I love & respect him way too much.....but I do want him back..
The only thing I would force is for TPTB to grow a brain & realize what they let go of....
If they can make concessions for RB, CM, & others, they darn well can do that for TK..
No one knows what went down in talks btw TPTB & TK, but we damn well know that Frons admitted to offereing the sun, moon, & stars to RB for her to return....
Playing hardball with TK, while catering to someone whose characters are wastes at best is wrong..
I will always want TK back..
There should be no other Zach, then TK/Zach....

I hope Zach and Kendall return together too. The show has no spark, or romance without them. It's lost a certain effervescence. They are desperately needed.
