Hi, folks!
I'm WEEKLY's ATWT editor, Mala, and I'll be lurking on the boards and here to answer any questions you might have about the show or what we're doing in the magazine.
I actually watch GH religiously and keep an eye on AMC, B&B, GL, and Y&R, too, so I could pop up anywhere on these forums.

Hi Mala
Will Weekly be doing an interview with Jen Landon and/or Jesse Soffer? I'd love to hear more from them, their most memorable fan experiences, what their future plans are etc.

Hello, Mala!
I am a Paul fan and I am an Emily fan and especially enjoy it when they are together up to their eyebrows in schemes. Can we expect story for Paul & Emily flowing from Emily taking up Paul’s offer and merging The Intruder with WorldWide?
Thank you,
Stormy Weather

StormyWeather - I don't know whether we'll see more of Paul and Emily, but the companies merging together would certainly be an interesting way to keep them in each other's orbit.
Abby fantastic - Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy my interviews. I'm really lucky in that everyone from ATWT is awesome and down to earth and just lovely to talk to. So, if it comes across in interviews with Austin, Terri, and Michael, it's because that's just exactly how they are.

Hello, Mala!
Thank you very much for answering my question.
ATWT rarely bothers scripting such things as the merging of companies unless it is somehow pertinent to current story, so I shall keep my fingers crossed that it will lead to something interesting for Paul & Emily…!
Again, thank you,

Mala,
I enjoy your interviews and features in SOW. I was also wondering if there will be any interviews with Jesse Soffer or Jennifer Landon in an upcoming SOW.
Thanks.

HI Mala,
I liked the quiz with Oakdale's Bridal Registry, but there is a mistake with the answer for Carly. Winston was actually her first husband. It was rewritten history so we didn't know about it at the time, but that supposedly happened when Carly was in Hong Kong when Maura had left the show. She had been unfairly imprisoned in Hong Kong and Winston blackmailed her into marriage to get her out of prison. We just didn't learn about it until she was about to marry Jack and was forced to leave him at the altar. So it really went Winston, Hal, John, Brad, Jack. Technically though the marriages to Hal, John, Brad weren't legal because she didn't know she was still married to Winston lol.

Thanks, WorldTurner! I admit it's hard to keep track of everybody's multiple spouses and even from all the research, figuring out where Winston went in Carly's lineup was a toughie. I'll make sure we correct that in the quiz file.
YellowRose, keep your fingers crossed and keep tuning in to WEEKLY.

Hello, Mala!
Another question, if I may:
I am interested in Barbara’s storyline but its progression is so intermittent. Will Paul and Will be finding out about Barbara’s oral cancer anytime soon?
Thank you,

Abby - I definitely have some good Bratie and Carjack stuff coming up in future issues.
StormyWeather - I doubt they'd let Will leave town without learning something so important about Barbara's health! I have a feeling you'll get your wish very, very soon.

Can't wait to see that! And hopefully they finally get the couples aligned that way as they should be and stop with this Kack nonsense. Pair the people that have the chemistry and let's get on with it!

I've been afraid there wouldn't be a scene with Gwen and will finding out. To have Will find out and still leave town is going to look bad unless they come up with a good reason for his leaving.
Meanwhile the scene with Kim/Barbara was fantastic. We need to be seeing more of this story. That scene yesterday is exactly the reason many of us love this show. both Kim and Lisa should be integral to this story for Barbara and we should see it more than every couple of weeks. Do you think wel will start seeing more of this story. It's such a good story featuring one of the most talented and beautiful women in daytime yet we're lucky if it's brought up every couple of weeks.

Hopefully now that Barbara is actually opening up about her illness to people, we'll get to see more of those kinds of scenes like we saw with Babs and Kim. I love when shows utilize their vets and all that awesome history; all those connections can't be beat.

Hi Mala,
you mentioned having some future tidbits on Carjack? I haven't watched the show since the debacle of Carly lying about dying, and what it did to Jack, with him hurting Katie. I was acually a big fan of Jack and Katie, and was very bothered by how poorly that was handled. have you observed that these future tidbits will give Jack back rooting value, not to mention the Carly/Jack pairing?
Thanks!

Yes, but something is still missing since she has not told her own kids. How do they get new viewers if they are only concern with folks that been watching for years or with just vets. Always wonder about that. I would think all their viewers was important these days.

jrfan - I actually liked Jack and Katie together, too. (Mind you, I'm a bit of a Skatie person at heart.) But I got into this neat discussion with Michael Park about Jack and Carly's evolution. Hopefully you'll see part of that in a future issue. What I got out of it is that the honest partnership they struck while helping Parker is a step in the right direction.
Anonymous - Of course Barbara's going to tell her kids eventually! ATWT is a show that balances its vet vs. young'uns use pretty well. I'm always encouraged by seeing Barbara mixing it up with Will and Gwen, Lucinda with Luke, Tom and Margo all up in Casey and Matt's business... it's all about making it feel like family, not like oldbies vs. noobs.
And I'm still a new viewer! They pulled me in just a few years ago! LOL! Now I'm chained to the show like Dusty to the radiator!

Mala, I appreciate your answer. I'll keep an eye on future issues, etc. to see if I want to tune in again. Michael Park is my favorite actor, and Jack is my favorite character. It's pained me not to watch but I couldn't stand the writing. I don't understand, how on any of the shows, those in charge approve of such character destruction. It's sad when one reads some of the boards, and some wish Jack would go away, etc., or when other critics opine that Jack is yesterday's news. That's my guy you're talking about! But it's all because of storyline/writing, and it's a shame. Thanks again, I'll keep on eye on the mags and stuff.

LOL, I understand. I just think that Barbara has more than one son. And I find Will/Gwen boring they are nothing like my young friends or someone I can relate to. Unless RH is on his way out I think Barbara has another son. As I have said so many time around, having Kim be nice to only Will/Gwen and Barbara trying to help only Will, doesn't show me nothing as a fan about the Ryan family or Hughes family. Only if you live your life like we want you too, will you be included doesn't show me family relation on this show. Same goes for Carly, we need to see more than just her son Parker having a relationship with Mommy. She has two son, I though, but everything is about Parker. It would be nice to see how the other son is dealing with Parker being in trouble. I need something that make sense. I need more than a young person and an old person talking. LOL

I can agree. How long before they find a way to have Paul/Sofie hating each other, now that her baby is part of the family? It won't be long because Paul's can't have decent family member or friends. And then they wonder why he looks out for himself first when they needs something.

I don't know...I still have this pet theory that Sofie's going to turn out to be Paul's kid. Their relationship is too sweet, too platonic, to read as something where they'd have a romantic falling out and it would further distance him from Barbara.
In fact, with Gwen, Will, and the baby gone, expanding Paul's side of the family would probably bring him and Mama B. closer than ever.

I'm thinking along the same lines as you. With Jen dead and will leaving town, I think they may want another member of the family and will not be at all surprised if Sofie turns out to be Paul's daughter. I don't understand why but the show seems mesmerized by the character so I expect them to tie her to a family. Tying her to Paul would be the safest, especially if they pursue the Aaron/Sofie relationship. Wonder if they would remember that Paul and Chris are cousins, so that would make Sofie and Chris related too lol.

LOL! I suddenly feel the need to paraphrase the Dukes of Hazzard...
Bo: "Daisy, if you weren't my cousin, I'd marry you." Daisy: "Like that's ever stopped anyone in this family before?"
In Chris and Sofie's potential defense, at least they wouldn't be *quite* as blood-related as, say, Jonathan and Tammy on GL.

Paul fans may as well turn the stupid show off. We never ever going to get our Paul free of Meg. It's going on three years of the same boring back and forth. I suppose Paul will buy her the farm and try to win her love forever while she put him down and tell him he's not good enough. They too cheap to hire someone for Paul. With a SID poll with almost 90% of folks want this couple done, we get nothing because Jean P or Chris G like them together. I thought the show was for viewers. They use everyone to put them in the same room together, Parker/Barbara, anyone and everyone. It just goes on and on and on. Pretty soon I guest Sofie will be use to help keep them together. Craig wasn't the reason the quad didn't work, so he's out and here we go again with the same thing. This show needs to be done with Paul/Meg. IMHO. RH Paul is just stuck with this woman and it don't look real. He would have move on instead of sticking around waiting on a spoon of kindness and exceptance from this boring one woman long time ago. I can barely enjoy my favorite character because every time she pop up, or everything in his life has to do with her. Even Barbara had to go to her house, she couldn't just call her son and meet somewhere else. It all forced so these two can be in each other lives.

Not a bad idea to make people register
LOL I know Chris and Sofie wouldn't be quite as close as on GL but i have to wonder if the writers would even remember they are related! It just seemed out of the blue that things switched back to Aaron/Sofie again yesterday.
LOL and if she does end up related to Paul dare we hope he tells her to get a personality and a backbone? If they really are so determined to keep her around, they need to make her more interesting.

Hi I am a Paul and Meg fan. I like seeing Roger and Marie working togather because it seems like they always to have so much fun working togather. They have had only good things to say about each other and their coworkers. Can you please tell me if Paul and Meg will be getting back togather anytime soon. It is been over 2 years and their fans would love to see them get married and have a family like all the other couples on the show. Roger and Marie really make the Paul and Meg pairing work. I hope the writers have some good things in store for the characters they play.

Great post! ITA! For the most part I have turned ATWT off and the main reason is Paul and Meg. I began to watch ATWT when Roger came to the show. Those first 6 month's of Roger's Paul were amazing. I never missed a scene. Since Meg Paul has become embarrassing to watch. I look for clips on the Web to watch Paul with the other characters, like today I found scenes of Paul with his mom. I'm tired of having to ff so much and if I know Meg is going to be in scenes with Paul I'll be doing a lot of ff'ing. So for me it's maulless clips when I find them or nothing. I've never known a character as boring as Meg or seen a character drag everyone down to be as boring as she is. Paul is a total, begging and pleading bore with Meg and totally someone I do not want to see, Roger or no Roger. I like Paul with everyone else, Rose, Rosanna, Parker, even with Sophie. I love/loved Paul with Emily, Barbara, James, Will, Craig, Dusty, you name it. It's only with Meg that it sucks so very, very much. Maul needs to end NOW and FOR GOOD!

At first I was opposed to the idea of Sophie possibly being Paul's daughter, now I don't mind it quite so much if that is the chosen route. I just don't want anything to hinder the path back to PEG.
If Paul did turn out to be Sophie's father then I definately think they'd be headed the 'forbidden' Tammy/Jonathon route with Sophie and Chris. I almost think that's why this animosity between Chris and Paul just sort of popped out of nowhere for.

So only fans of boring Meg are allowed to say what they feel? If you don't like maul or Meg, a FICTIONAL couple and a FICTIONAL character, than you're a hate spreader. No one other than you and the other 4 maul fans are allowed to have an opinion, right? Do you Meg fans think you can own this board too and bully the mods here like you do on PGP? If the mods allow your bullying of them and dictating to them the way their board must be run, than shame on them!
And BTW, when this site was still showing IP #'s why was it that most of the maul fans' posts all had the same IP #? Do ya think much like on every other board it was just a couple of maul fans pretending to be a crowd?
Registration won't stop anything. It's been long suspected that each one of the 5 maul fans have at least a dozen alters that post to stalk people that don't like maul or Meg, which means they stalk about 99% of the fans of the show, and try to brow beat them into becoming maul and Meg fans, that is when the maul fans are not spamming polls and emailing complaints against those that dare not to like maul or Meg to every one they can think of or try to bribe people to their side with candy.
Now I guess you can rush to mail the mods here about this post, but some day you'll realize you can't censor the opinions of most of the people that watch ATWT. Eventually the mods will stop allowing you to tell them how to run THEIR boards.

I agree with this one, too!

Paul fans may as well turn the stupid show off. We never ever going to get our Paul free of Meg. It's going on three years of the same boring back and forth. Great post!
I think people should be logged in. The same posters are leaving the same messages and it is not getting them what they want. So they fill the threads with mean and hatefull messages. We have the same people doing this on the other boards. When is this going to stop. This is a nice and peaceful board. I hope we keep it that way. Atter all it is just a Soap Opera.
Because posters don't agree with you, you think their postings are hateful and mean? Isn't this poster bashing? I think so. You don't need to bully posters.

Just curious. Would you watch if Roger and Marie left? And if the characters were played by different actors?
First of all, none of Paul's fans want to see Paul running all over town kissing Meg's behind. Paul's whole life is about Meg, everything he does, every project, now he can't even talk to his mother without they showing up at the Snyders. Enough already. Meg doesn't want Paul, lets move the guy to someone who does. And stop the three year old game that Meg plays with him. I want him, I don't want him. It's boring, boring, boring. These are actors they should be able to work with anyone. There's no reason to keep two people together who doesn't make any sense, or only work for about nine fans. They should play fair, we had two year of sleep and hollow, the other fans who watch the show need a break to see their favorite guy with someone else and not begging.

I think they don't have any respect for the character of Paul. Making him a grandfather at thirty-something, just hit forty, without giving him a child to see grow up is ridiculous. They kill all his babies and then make him grandpa. Not to mention letting Will/Gwen then take his grandchild without him even knowing it his. What sense does that makes? Oh yes, that right, the only thing Paul care about is getting Meg, they want us to believe. So sad. And they had a poll at the new CBS,com just a week ago asking who Paul should be with next, as in a romance and Sofie was one of the choices. Unbelievable.

Alright, folks...please dial it down a notch. I know not everyone agrees when it comes to who a character should be paired with, but let's be respectful of each other.
Also, just in terms of logistics... were Alison to get pregnant right now, Emily could technically be considered that child's grandmother. Just something to chew on! Age ain't nothin' but a number when it comes to being a soap dad or mom OR grandparent.

Oh, I see, so it's respectful to call posters that don't like a fictional character or couple hateful but if you call them on it then you get deleted. Well, I guess this is another board and mods that maul fans own. I guess it's a case of the squeaky wheel getting the oil. Well, I at least I still have my dignity and I post what I have to say here, I don't come whining to you mods, PM'ing you and sorry, but you all get no candy from me. I deal fairly with people. I don't pull crap like that. Then some of the soap press or board mods wonder why we think you guys are bias. In case you haven't guessed it was my post you deleted, but the post that called those of us that don't like Meg and maul hateful is still there. I guess THAT'S your idea of being respectful. Why not just say up front on rules for this board that posters are not allowed to say anything bad about Meg or Maul, that the first and biggest rule of this board is that you have to love, adore and worship, Meg, Maul and Marie Wilson. At least then posters would know where we stand.
Sorry, Ms. Bhattacharjee, but posters calling other posters hateful for their opinion on fiction and bias mods doesn't even come close to respectful. But then I guess what you mean is that only Maul, Meg, MWil fans should get respect and anyone who doesn't like them can be called names and treated any way maul fans feel like treating us. If you want the board run that way fine. It's your board and you have the right to run it any way you want. I just think you should be fair about it and say right up front that this board is ONLY for fans of just some couples and characters.

Nobody has deleted ANY posts in this forum from any particular fanbase, and there is absolutely no rule that you have to love Meg or Meg/Paul. I have not been PM-ed to patrol the threads. My directive for respect is for ALL posters here, regardless of who they 'ship together.
As for dignity... I'm glad you still have that, "Anonymous."
Editing to Add: It IS SOD/SPW's policy to delete any posts containing profanity and/or bashes on an actor or actress' appearance. That kind of rudeness will not be tolerated. Thank you to everyone who has been playing nice!

It's just my personal opinion but I think that the anonymous people have been playing nice. Truefan and some of the other Maud fans have been a little overbearing, running to every ATWT message board they can find, whining about any and every thing said against Maud, spamming polls and acting like they are the only ones with a right to an opinion when Paul/RH is concerned. While I have no problem with them showing enthusiasm over their so called couple (further comments held out of respect for those who chose to play nice and being a TNT fan I've been more than a little zealous about wanting my couple back and together) it's a little tiring and frankly enough to drive any sane person up the wall when they bait and insult anyone that is anti-Maud and then feign innocence. They are notorious for it and people who come here to talk peacfully about the show don't want to and shouldn't have to deal with it. Everyone here should be treated fairly unless SPW/SOD are just as biased as SID. If this gets me banned from the board then PEACE!

I personally don't have any desire to see Paul be a grandfather.
I wanted to see him be a father, particularly when Emily was pregnant with all the history that baby would have mined.
Beyond that, I'd rather see his Stenbeck side emerge, see more stuff with WW, with Barbara and Emily and Lucinda and I'd love to see some Paul and Carly scenes. And of course, I'd love to see James back.
But a grandfather? No thanks.
I don't even want Sofie connected to Paul but if she must be, I vote as another Stenbeck or something, even though I don't think she's remotely interesting enough to be a Stenbeck lol.

I’d like to thank you & your magazine for being un-biased and not sell your soul and bash a fanbase for a bag of candy. It warms my heart to see that there are still people in the soap media that maintain their dignity & are not on a payroll of some sly agent. Keep up the good work!
I’d like to know if there is any hope for loyal Roger fans that are waiting for over two years for him to have a story that does not involved boring Meg and doing nothing but begging her while she abuses him. I wish SOW could ask TPTB why they are insisting on shoving Maul in our faces when it is clear that they are universally hated by ALL fans.

As for Paul's future with or without Meg, I think we're done with that issue. If anyone has other storylines to ask me about, I would be happy to answer those questions.

Okay, Mala...lol...other topics...
Where the heck has Emily (actually Kelley) been? I am so relieved to see spoilers about her for the next few weeks.
Do you know if Aaron is still supposed to be getting a new woman? Any chance Julie Pinson is for him? A little May-December romance?
How about a man for Barbara and Susan? Cougars need lovin' too!!!
And lastly, there is talk of a boycott for Noelle Beck's first airdate. I disagree with this idea. After all, it's just a job and it's not her fault the way she got it!

kmh187 - Thanks! LOL. And, yeah, I, too, am glad to see Emily back in the swing of things. Coming up, I think you're going to see a lot more with her and Ali, which I love since their relationship is so complicated.
I think Aaron's love life will probably involve the women it already has in it, but I do like that Julie Pinson idea! A little May-December (or, in this case, May-October) never hurt anyone. Kinda reminds me of the secret torch I carried for Dusty/Luke until Dusty got offed. :::sniffle::: I always figured he'd romanced all the Walsh-Snyder women so why not start on the men?
Amen to cougars needing love, too! Maybe when they bring Matt back, Babs and Susan can duke it out for who gets to hire him as a lawn boy?
I'm sad to hear there's talk of a boycott of Noelle Beck's first airdate, since, yes, you're right, she's just doing her job, but I do understand the fan frustration that comes from Martha leaving, too. It's a tough situation and I hope ATWT and its fans weather the storm.

It seems like we just had a couple of major stories come to an end, but not much talk about big stories coming up. And the ones I'm hearing about sure don't excite me lol. I'm not too optimistic about the Emma's farm/Mike story. They don't seem to really know what to do with the 20 something set. Will the mags be having any news soon on what's coming up? Are we sort of in a transition from the temporary to the regular writers? Anything interesting for Carly and Jack?
For the record, I too hate the idea of a boycott for Noelle's first day. I am very upset about what happened with Martha but it isn't Noelle's fault. I think there are better ways to express out displeasure to the people responsible.

I agree Mala, Luke and Dusty, that would have been just all kinds of interesting.
I am just stuck on who might be coming back for the Luke storyline, I know Van hinted at someone from the past in SOW, and SOW hinted at kissing cousins maybe, so that makes me think of Jade, but other choices could be Kevin, Damian, Winston, Reg, Tony.
I would have to say Damian is out because the actor is doing work overseas.
Well anyway, it will be interesting to see if those ramblings Van was talking about someone from the past coming back does happen, no matter who it is.

I'm thinking Mala probably meant it as a joke when she suggested Luke and Dusty. There was no doubt about Dusty's sexuality and he was not gay.
Is the character returning Elwood? I know he is coming back for some shows. Since it appears Casey is now involved in this story and Elwood and Casey have a history, is that the character they are talking about returning?

I was only half kidding about Luke and Dusty, WorldTurner.
And I like the guesses you and Vanfan125 are both putting forth. I don't even have confirmation on who the lucky character is yet, but I would guess Jade. I know Van and Elena Goode are really good friends and I bet he'd be thrilled to have her back. But that's just my pick. When I find out, we'll pop it in the magazine!
Maybe we should start a pool? LOL.

Happy Thursday Mala!
I like your comments in this week's mag about Mike not being a match for Brad. I really like Katie and Brad together, which is surprising because I never really cared for Austin on DOOL.
Simon is always welcome in Oakdale as far as I'm concerned, but Katie needs to get herself together for once and I think Brad might be the one to help her do that.
I hope this new Janet character doesn't cause too much trouble for Bratie-since I think that's who she's coming to town for.

kmh187 - Happy Thursday back at'cha! And it's not like I'm anti-Mike or anything, even with my Skatie leanings. I agree with your assertion that Katie needs to get herself together. I think she thought marrying a "grown up" like Mike, someone who was a bit more serious and stable, would magically make that happen. Of course it didn't. Just like the rebound to Jack.
Katie's got to work from within, and I think Brad growing up through loving her is a good example for her! He proves that you can be your wacky self but still be an adult. If Brad the Cad can do it, so can she! And THEN Simon can come back and rock her world again. LOL!

You may not be anti-Mike but I am lol. And it has nothing to do with Skatie. What on earth were they thinking when they cast somebody so young in the role? And no seeing him on screen sure didn't change my thinking on that. It only made it worse. It looks like he should be hanging out with the college crowd when in fact Mike is suppoed to be late 30's. It will look totally ridiculous if they even try to mention his history with Carly. So what possessed them to do this? If they liked the actor, why not just make him a different character? To me, this is a real insult to the fans.

DemiAshton - The question of Carjack's backburnering (which ties into Bratie's as well) has been asked and answered. Thanks.
WorldTurner - LOL! NuNuMike IS a bit young, isn't he? But, then again, so was Austin Peck -- a complete turnaround from the previous incarnations of Brad. So maybe Jon Prescott will prove that lightning can strike twice!

LOL well I still have a problem with Brad being so young but what makes a difference for me is first he was gone from the show for a lot of years and there are no kids in his history to be dealt with. They have also totally ignored his history.
Mike and Carly had a rich history with Nora. Had she lived, based on the way Parker has been sorased she would be about 17. No way could this Mike pass for her father.
The other problem for me is because they have 20 something actors playing teens. Jon is only a month older than Van, yet his character is supposed to be almost 20 years older. That's just whacked!

Casting spoiler question. The official ATWT site is announcing that Meredith Hagner joins the cast as Liberty on April 24. Since there is no information about her on IMDB can you give us any information on her like even her age? She looks quite young, so some have speculated possibly a girlfriend for Parker? Of course we also know age doesn't make a difference lol

jrfan - I actually liked Jack and Katie together, too.
Mala -
Is your interview with Michael Park in the current issue of SOW a part of the discussion you mentioned having with him?
I had a chance to read it tonight. MP had a lot of interesting things to say concerning Jack and Carly's relationship. The one thing I'm wondering after reading it is why the writers bother to pair Jack OR Carly up with other people when they know they're just going to end up reuniting them eventually?
It seems like a huge waste of time for everyone involved to me. I also think it's a bit unfair to the fans who make the mistake of liking them more with the "other" man or woman. Time and again I've seen fans get iinvested in those stories only to have the rug jerked out from under them once the writers do decide to put the characters right back where they started -with each other.
This isn't something that only happens with Carly and Jack. It happens with a lot of couples on ATWT. I suppose I'm just wondering what the point of it all is tonight.

Yup, that's the discussion I mentioned having! And, honestly, I think the breakup-makeup of couples is something to ponder across the board with soaps. From one perspective, I guess it keeps things fresh to occasionally give a couple a break from each other? On the other hand, you're right, SweepMe, why waste time with interlopers if everyone knows Couple X is the end game?
I had that problem when I started to root for Carly and Jax on GH these past few years. I was like, "Well, geez, why root for them if they're just going to put her back with Sonny in a year?" I've been lucky in that it hasn't quite *happened* yet. LOL. But I also think that particular pair's "inevitable" factor isn't quite as high as, say, Days' Bo and Hope, GL's Josh and Reva, or, yes, ATWT's CarJack. When someone gets between Bo and Hope, you pretty much KNOW it won't last. Same with Josh and Reva, even if they ARE on an extended split.

Mala I look forward to reading the article when I get a chance to run to the store today.
Speaking as a fan of Carly and Jack, I think the show runs a huge risk if they pair them with anyone else at this point. I know plenty of fans who seriously will give up ATWT before they give up CarJack and they are hanging by a thread now because there just aren't other stories that interest them. A lot of CarJackers want a slow reunion, for them to address their issues, and hopefully have Jack be the one to fight for Carly this time. But if in the mean time they are paired with others, I seriously believe a lot of fans will just stop watching the show. There is plenty of story for them without getting other parties involved. That only hurts both CarJack and whoever the other parties are. Besides there really are no good options on the canvas now that would be believable. It would be better to first rebuild their friendship and then a slow love story for a reunion. It doesn't have to happen overnight.

EW wants Josh and Cassie to be the main couple and I don't them see reuniting JEVA unless PGP fires Ms "Wonderful" Wheeler. And I don't see it happening anytime soon!!!

I know they have recast Lily. MB did a wonderful job and she will be missed. Do you know if the writers are going to turn Lily into a bad person. Sometimes when they recast the role they seem to miess up the character. The new lady that will be playing Lily seems nice from what I have read and I am willing to give her a chance.

Mala I now had a chance to pick up the mag and read the interview with Michael. Terrific job! I really enjoyed it. Love the True North comment! And there still is plenty of vim and vigor so he doesn't need to worry We didn't invest so many years only to give up now! We may be battered and bruised but we're still pulling for Jack and Carly and especially Mikey and Mojo!

truefan - I don't know that Lily will be a bad person when Noelle Beck plays her, but they may definitely try to set her apart from Martha's with some different character choices. I mean, Lily's not exactly *evil* and nobody would buy it if they made her that way.
WorldTurner - Thanks! I'm glad you liked the interview! I have to admit, I manage to fit in "True North" or "magic compass" in every talk I have with Michael about Carjack. If he's sick of it, he hasn't told me yet. LOL. And I know that Michael and "Mojo" both know how devoted the Carly and Jack fans are. They're always moved by how much support there is and really appreciate it.
I really do think the future of Carly and Jack lies in them rebuilding their trust slowly and organically, like you said higher up in this post, and if they do get yanked apart again, it's going to be unfortunate because they've come so far this time and grown so much.

HI Mala the writing for all the characters on the show has improved. Who is writing the show now? Is JP still head? Do you think the show will keep up with the characters interacting more with other characters? Do you know if they are going to make any of the characters bad. They are hiring alot of new people and it would be nice to see the vets more. Do you think that will happen anytime soon?

Thanks for taking time to answer my question! I've been a soap fan for as long as I can remember, so I realize triangles are a staple of daytime. I guess my "I'm not really bitter" pill had worn off for the day when I asked you about them. Triangles always suck, except when the couple you're rooting for is actually the one standing in the end. Mine wasn't this time around. Maybe I'll have better luck with the next one. Thanks again!

Marla, can you shed some light on why bratie has to be married now? The spoilers for them for the next few weeks indicate that they will be but Katie has not say "I love you" to brad and yet she willing to be married now. Why is that? Thank

I agree/ They are putting the carriage before the horse with this wedding and it worries me.
Mala, Not looking for spoilers, but an opinion here, do you think that Mike will become a problem for Katie and Brad? The wedding is happening at such lightening speed that it seems like something is going to give.

I'm not on ATWT's writing staff, so I can't really speak to the "why" questions about storyline. I can only speculate right along with you all.
SweepMe - I pretty much forget to take my "I'm not really bitter" pill every morning. LOL. You're lucky I don't tell you all my various TV show-related grievances!
truefan - You're probably noticing an improvement in the writing because the writers' strike material is wrapping up. JP is still the head writer and we will see more and more of her material hitting the airwaves in the coming months.
As for Mike, sandstone, I would hope that he's at least a little bit of a threat to Brad/Katie. Otherwise why bring him back? I don't know that a recast Mike has the same power to torpedo them that Mark Collier would have, but you'd have to assume that Katie still has a lot of feelings wrapped up in how he left her. After all, that's what put her on the path to Jack and Brad to begin with!

Thank you. I was thinking along the same lines, but this marriage thing to Brad is coming out of no where right now, when they've only just gotten together. I used to love Matie. But I love Brad with Katie as well. A wedding now, almost seems too easy.

LOL okay I'll be the one to say it. We may get a change in the writing with JP and staff back but an improvement? I'm not so optimistic lol. A lot of us have been happier having the temp writers even if there were some flaws in it. Many of us hoped she wouldn't return.
As far as Mike, after watching today, it seems the purpose is once again to see that Katie is forgiven of any wrong doing Now MIke sees himself as the guilty part in the divorce and that he "treated her badly." Sorry but I'm sick of everything Katie does being excused and having it become her victims fault and hence they become her biggest cheerleader. Mike will probably be toasting them at the wedding and saying he hopes Brad can give her what he couldn't. Excuse me while I go throw up lol.

WorldTurner LOL! I love Katie, but can see why you're frustrated. I haven't been shy about my Skatie leanings, so watching Katie fall in love "forever" four times in 7 years has been a little rough. She's still young...heck, she's MY age...and it would be fun if she could just be a single, professional woman enjoying her relationship with Brad and chilling out instead of jumping headfirst into another marriage.
We actually need more of that on daytime! Single women playing the field!
truefan - ATWT will continue to mix vets into its storylines throughout spring. I know we don't see some of them much, but Margo, Emily, the Snyder clan, and others will definitely still be present.

Hi Mala, Will Barbara be in a front burner story? Will her medical illness story go on for some time or will she get a new story? Like designing with Sophie??
Paul and Sofie has such a wonderful relationship, will that grow or sprout into something?
Will Meg be ok or will she get hurt in some way by Paul???
Does Craig play some part in the company that Mike is working for????
Thanks for taking the time Mala.

HI do you know if Sofia is related to the Ryans in anyway. She seems like she could be his daughter or sister and will Paul and Meg take their relationship to the next level soon. It seems like the writers are working on putting all the couples back togather.

I can't really answer future plot questions except to say that Sofie will continue to be involved in Paul and Barbara's lives and that Meg will also remain a part of the equation.
It's going to be a spring and summer of surprising connections.

Im totally torn on Matie now vs. Bratie. Jon Prescott lit up like a Christmas tree with Terri C in those first meeting scenes. Wow! I was stunned. There's so much history there between Katie and MIke. If its not revisited now, it will be later I bet.

I think I need to give NuNuMike a little more time to settle in. I'm on Team Bratie for the moment, and I would love for Katie to love Brad without reservation because the poor guy really is getting her on the rebound right now. Heaping Mike on top of her Jack issues just doesn't seem fair!

I'm not a Katie fan but I find her the most tolerable with Brad. The show has waited so long to actually get them together that I think they need to stick with that. They need to get established as a couple first and it only further damages Katie if so quickly she becomes conflicted about men again. Writing her like that now for the last few years has already caused her so much damage and they need to let her show it is Brad and only Brad she loves. Since Brad's past is returning they should let Katie fight for Brad for a change. I just don't think now is the time for Mike to complicate things so hopefully that isn't part of the story. It looks to me more like he will be the triangle with Paul and Meg.

I just picked up the latest SOW with your interview with Jake Silbermann. I haven't seen many interviews with Jake, so this was a really nice to see. You asked some great questions, and he gave some very well thought out answers, in my opinion. So thank you, so much, for that!
Also, was it you who interviewed the ATWT/P&G spokesperson, Jeannie Tharrington, in that same issue? If it was you, or someone else, whoever it was - thank you for doing that interview! It was good to see some hard hitting questions asked that needed to be asked. I applaud whoever might have been the interviewer for that particular piece. Very nicely done!!!
If it was you who did the interview with Jeannie, would you try asking a follow-up question to her? What type of a message is the show trying to send by only showing the gay guys kiss or get kissed by women? P&G was already skating on this ice as far as I am concerned, but now we saw in the preview for next week Ameera kissing Noah, the ice has official broken. What didn't the camera pan away from that? Oh wait, that's right - watching two straight people kiss is ok, but if they're gay, it has to happen off-screen. I guess I forgot those are the rules that exist at P&G. That's just so wrong and so hateful in my opinion that if the show is going to be forced to do that, they should never have even started with the storyline.

Thanks, NoahFan. It was my first time really talking to Jake and he was very nice! I'm glad you like the Q&A.
And, yes, it was also me who interviewed Jeannie Tharrington. Thank you again! As for the questions and asking her that particular followup... honestly, I can tell you that P&G is not trying to come from a place of hate or wrongness. ATWT is doing the best they can, telling the story as sensitively and passionately as they can. Yes, the cutaways and offscreen smooches are annoying, but diversifying daytime is a slow process. I mean, we still have no Asian-Americans on contract, very few black characters, and all of three Middle Eastern characters who never pray to Allah onscreen.
What viewers who have just tuned in for Nuke have to remember is that most people have been watching their favorite soap for a minimum of 10 years. There's often a giant generation gap involved as well. ATWT is trying to tell this story for its whole audience, MOST of whom don't even know any gay people. Each step Noah and Luke take paves the way for them and the future of gay couples on daytime. They've already been farther than AMC's Bianca, which is a miracle.
I mean, for comparison's sake...? Ameera kissing Noah and that being his only outward display...? Bianca, who only ever made love to a woman offscreen behind a locked door and certainly NEVER talked about her sexual desires, was viciously raped by a man onscreen. Ouch. That sucked.
Noah and Luke are an amazing step for daytime, and I think ATWT was absolutely right to have started this storyline. Don't ever think that they weren't!

Mala:
Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I do appreciate the show for being brave enough to take on this story, and for the most part, doing well by it. You're right to point out that having gay characters or gay relationships on soaps in the past hasn't gone too well.
That's one reason that I find it amazing, personally, to see how popular this couple is. I think it shows how far society, in general, has come. It wouldn't have worked without great acting and writing, and I think this story has featured both of those characteristics, for the most part, since its inception. I know it has also changed some peoples feelings regarding gay people, which is great. Anytime a television show can help change society for the better, especially a soap opera of all things, that's wonderful.
Still, in my opinion, that doesn't let P&G off the hook regarding what I mentioned in my original post. The show HAD done a good job of avoiding the mistakes that other soaps had made sometimes when they brought on gay characters. But now, with the censorship that has so invaded this story that it is taking away from peoples enjoyment of what they're seeing, things are going backwards instead of forwards, and this might just end up turning out like the other stories you mentioned on other soaps. I'm looking for a silver lining, but I'm not seeing it.
And specifically referring to that forthcoming kiss between Ameera and Noah, I think that's showing the wrong message, and needs to be called out. I can imagine some uninformed people who have never met any gay people sitting at their home, watching that, and going, "I knew it! He was straight after all...he was just confused, that's all. It's about time he got away from that Luke character."
I don't believe the powers that be want to send that message, but for some, that's might be how it's interpreted. The gay real couple doesn't kiss, but the fake straight couple does.
No matter how you cut it, I think we can all agree that it's sad that this is even an issue. The storyline would be so much more enjoyable without having to worry about how the writers will get to come up with "Luke and Noah kiss interruption #153" and then #154, #155, etc. etc. It's very distracting, annoying, and sends the wrong message.
Hopefully things will change in time...I hope that's another thing we can all agree on.
Thanks again, Mala, for the great interviews and your thoughtful reply. I appreciated them greatly.

Thank you Mala. you did a great job. i agree with you about what TPTB are trying to do, and i know soap because i use to watch Days for a long time. Luke and Noah brought me to ATWT but Austin Peck was the one that got me to watch the whole show. right now they need a new head wirter becuase there some storyline that are bad and having Katie or Carly on 4 or 5 days a week is over kill for me. i like went story line have charactors one 3 days maybe 4 if it needed. even though the wirting was bad from the scrubs at less i seen differnt poeple on. I love Margo's storyline the best.

Mala, I think you make some wonderful points. Luke and Noah are an amazing, incredible step and the fact that their story is being told and continues to be told is progress in itself. I don't think a lot of fans realize by their very existence, Luke and Noah have done and are doing more than anything in daytime or prime time. Name another mainstream TV show with the depiction of a long running, on going gay relationship where we see all the beats? You can't can you? NBC and CBS have no on gay going characters on any of their prime time shows. ABC may have these gay friendly prime time shows, but do any of those gay characters have a relationship that has been on screen and lasted as long as Luke and Noah? Not even Brothers and Sisters can boast that. As you mention, many (but not all) Luke and Noah fans have never watched a soap before, tend to skew younger and cut their teeth on cable shows where anything goes regarding the depiction of gay relationships. And like it or not, daytime is still a conservative medium and ATWT is probably one of the most traditional, older skewing soaps around so yeah, you gotta take baby steps like with anything new and different for the medium. I don't see any of the young, hipper soaps trying this story in any form. It's not perfect and I have my issues, but I wouldn't have wanted to miss this story for a minute. And I look forward to what's to come, warts and all. I must say though that it's interesting that we can see Luke and Noah on a bed panting and breathing heavily, ripping each others clothes off until they are half naked and in a heated clinch, but we still haven't gotten so much as a peck. Frankly, I thought that was more steamy and hot and provocative than a kiss.

Thanks, AnthonyL and CodeNuke. I really do think it's a matter of constantly dipping the toe in the pool and slowly swimming from the shallow end to the deep one. The fact that they've gone from kissing twice to no kissing is frustrating, yes, but when it comes to the fact that Luke is a fully realized, wonderful, normal soap character who viewers can connect to and watch fall in love...that's awesome.
This isn't going to BE Queer As Folk. Ever. That's just not how daytime works. It's definitely a genre that skews older and uses a LOT of traditional storytelling and views its women in a very antiquated manner. (I could go off on a whole separate gender rant, so we'll rein me in. LOL.) So Noah and Luke are a really nice surprise. Their writing is actually better than the writing for Bratie, if you consider the fact that right now Katie is absolutely on the rebound and she's never once said, "I love you, Brad." Sure, they're having sex all over the place, but is it a LOVE story like Luke and Noah's? Nope.
NoahFan - As for the Ameera/Noah kiss leading people to think "Well, all he needed was a good smooch from a girl!"...trust me when I tell you that it's Ameera who is going to suffer for that scene, just as she has been since she got to town. What part of "I like boys" isn't clear to her? Man, she's written as naive. I know plenty of Muslim women and none of them act like they just fell off the falafel truck.

Mala do you know who is really responsible for writing what we are seeing now? I know the writers are not listed in the credits yet, but at the same time this seems very much like JP's work. While the show had been more balanced for a while during the strike, that seems to have stopped. This week was definitely As Katie's World Turns and it looks the same for next week. And while Casey was eased onto the canvas as a newbie, we now had Mike airing every single day.and looks like he will be on at least 4 days next week. That's one way to turn the viewers against a new character. CarJack had made wonderful progress and now we have Jack back to being a jerk again. So I'm curous if Goutman is responsible for what we are seeing now or if JP came back and tweaked it. It really seems like her style of writing. It really seems like her favorites of Katie and Meg are back front and center big time. I guess I wonder if we can hope for the writing to improve soon or is this really the direction that JP is going.

That is a great question, I have been wondering the same thing for the last few weeks, it all just seems very much like JP. I mean like you said Jack is becoming a jerk again, as is Holden, both things that JP loves to do, but CG was kind of making them softer. Plus like you said it is newbie city, plus JP's faves Katie and Meg are all over the place again, and the balance is gone.

What's most annoying is that characters who had their own stories just two weeks ago (Margo and Henry/Vienna) are now back to propping Katie and have no reason to exist otherwise. Last week was all about Katie, every scene, every event seemed to revolve around her, her life, her men, whatever. The only characters last week that didn't yammer on about Katie and her life were Luke/Noah/Casey/Ameera. Thank God!

Sadly the word is that Trent is back to taping very little again also. I loved seeing more of Henry there for a while and shades ot the Henry I loved while he was working with CarJack and also when he had probably the best Cowboy Jack scene of any of them when he had lots of us viewers just howling as he talked to CJ. Not a lot of actors could have made that work. His talent is truly being wasted as just a Katie prop.
I loved Margo and Tom in the whole story as it played out with Nevins and there should be fallout from that but nope it's back to Katie propping. Again more talent being wasted.

Mala: I'm not sure what you are referring to regarding how Ameera has suffered since she came to town. Could you please clarify?
The way I see it, she was going to be shipped back to Iraq, and a complete stranger married her to keep her safe. On top of that, this stranger's boyfriend's family took both him and her in and housed them. She is even already taking college classes. Heck, she just got her own place with Noah. (excuse me..I'm feeling a bit sick ).. Other then the random and pointless minority bashing episode that took back a month or two ago, I think she has been treated extremely well, especially considering these are complete strangers that are being nice to her and going out of their ways to help her, even at the expensive of two specific characters happiness. Being watched by ICE agents all the time isn't that great I can imagine either, but it's the price she has to pay for her freedom and safety.
I do most definitely agree that she has been written as naive, and in fact, I would go far as to say she has been written very poorly in my eyes. It's very sad to see that too, considering she is the only Muslim character (from Iraq) that I know of on any daytime show. It's sad that she hasn't been as written as sensitively and as well as the characters of Luke and Noah had been (that is, up until we got to this storyline and the writing, in my opinion, went downhill).
I wonder how JP will treat the character of Ameera once her written staff is back on screen. I'm still not entirely sure if the character is in it for the long haul, or if she was just supposed to have a short stint on the show. Does anyone know?

I hate hearing that Trent is on the back burner again, especially since he almost left because the show wasn't using him, signed a new contract, got a big story..... and is now back on the BB again.
And you're right about Margo and Tom. The other day when Margo said to Tom "Our lives are perfect, we're lucky" or something like that, I couldn't believe it. It was as if they hadn't been through such a terrible ordeal. And then they went right back to going on and on about Katie.
I really think it's time for a change at the show. The writers strike let us see more of the cast, more stories, more interaction then we've had in years. Sure there were problems, but now that JP is back, it's all about Carly/Jack/Brad/Katie. Everyone else is propping their stories. And I don't like it. I'm back to only watching the days the boys are on... and that can't be good.
With the ratings falling maybe it's time the show stopped constantly changing it's cast and looked at the writing team.

Sorry for making another post, but I forgot to comment on this in my last post. Ms. Tharrington said in your story about how proud she and the show is to be telling the Luke & Noah story. But if that's the case, why don't they act proud?
According to another magazine whose name won't be mentioned (though they're not really competition, but still, I will be respectful ), Chris Goutman, the executive producer of the show, has been barred from talking publicly about this story. If he and the show are so proud to tell the story, why is he, just like the characters of Luke and Noah, being censored by P&G officials? I would think, if they really were proud of this story, they would have Mr. Goutman talking to anyone and everyone regarding just how thrilled they are to be telling the Luke and Noah story and telling it right. Yet that's not happening, and it kind of makes me and others wonder why. What exactly is going on behind the scenes, and are P&G officials afraid Mr. Goutman might say something that they wouldn't like? I suppose we might never know, which is quite unfortunate.

Mala, now that we know that Daniel Hugh Kelly is returning as Colonel Winston Mayer... do you know anything about what will happen with him? And which effect this will have on Luke and Noah (and Ameera)?
Thanks!

Could you also let us know if it's just one day (though the ATWT.net indicates it'll be more than just one episode)? Will he still be in jail or wandering free?

So Mala, that kiss on Friday between Noah and Ameera, does that finally clue Noah in to Ameera's feelings towards him or does he remain clueless still for a while longer? Noah also has been acting like a jerk towards Luke ever since Ameera arrived, does that stop soon?
I guess I'm asking how much more of clueless jerk Noah are we in store for until he wakes up and smells the roses?

Hey, everyone! Sorry it's taken me a few days to get to this round of questions.
-At this point, I do not know how long Daniel Hugh Kelly is going to be sticking around but I'm looking into it.
-As to who is writing the show right now, from what I've heard we won't see the bulk of Jean Passanante's stuff until May but she is indeed back at the helm. I have no idea who was writing in the interim and can't speculate.
-Noah being a "clueless jerk" (windwalker12's words, not mine! LOL!) is going to last a bit longer. What's a soap relationship without conflict?

NoahFan - What you've said above basically encapsulates why I feel Ameera, as a character, has suffered since she hit Oakdale. Rather than being an autonomous, strong, woman who came to this country on her own power to save her own life, she was immediately a roadblock between Noah and Luke, a frail "little woman" that they had to protect, take in, and shelter. They decided for her that marriage was her path to freedom. That's not strangers being "nice." That's presumptuous! We don't know Ameera's hopes, Ameera's dreams, her motivation. All we know is that they *dramatic gasp* can't let her go back to Iraq! What about the girl who was brave enough to get out of Iraq on her own, get on a plane, and get to rural Illinois by herself? Where is that girl? I wish we'd gotten to meet her, this amazing Muslim woman who took that risk. I think she got lost at the expense of Noah and Luke.

Mala, thanks as always. I appreciate the information and insight you provide us with.
I hope DHK will be around for a bit. He's one of my favorite soap actors going back to Ryan's Hope. But unless he's going to be cleared of all charges and wandering around Oakdale, I can't imagine it's a long stay. Though it would be the first time the show has get a murderer get off on some silly technicality.
I'm not surprised that Noah is going to keep acting the way he has been for a bit longer. I just hope that there's lots of begging and pleading on his part when he realizes what a fool he's been!

Mala do you think we'll see some change in story then in May when we see JP's work start? I'm barely hanging by a thread right now and I've been watching a long time. Quite honestly the only thing keeping me watching are Maura and Michael despite the fact I am not happy with their story. Yesterday was painful with the whole focus on Katie and her men and Paul/Meg/Mike. Those seem to be the 2 big stories but I really think watching paint dry would be more interesting. How sad that Barbara's story has her reduced to just being talked about and not even seen. Any chance the focus will shift from these 2 main stories soon? I'm really missing the better balance we had there for a while.

HI Mala,
Ok so even after Ameera's "move" on Noah, he's still cluless-ah-you gotta love soap opera couple conflict-
Last week I think you said Ameera is going to suffer from her putting the move on Noah, if Noah is still clueless, and Luke isn't, does her "relationship" with Noah deteriorate? I'm also hoping that we Nuke fans get the payoff that we so justly deserve when the writers, unfortunately, came up with this green-card marriage bit.
I totally agree that Ameera should have been created to be a stronger person due to all you mentioned: leaving Iraq, finding her way in a foreign company etc., I am so hoping that the writers' get a clue and do something brilliant with this character in order to redeem herself.
Thanks, Mala.

AnthonyL - I don't know if I'm actually offering any insight, but thank you! LOL.
WorldTurner - I think there's going to be a lot of Meg/Paul/Mike/Sofie/Aaron stuff coming up, as well as Katie/Brad stuff. I guess that means you have to brace yourself.
berdache1 - You're waiting for a Nuke payoff? LOL! As a seasoned soap viewer, I think I should probably warn you to buckle up. Just ask the CarJack fans, who've been waiting for a real payoff for, what, a decade now? The road for anyone's favorite couple is never going to be easy and even after this Ameera story wraps, I'm sure something else will be thrown in Nuke's path. It's going to be an interesting romantic spring and summer for many Oakdale faves.

Thanks for the warning Mala. I don't normally use the ff but I think it's going to be getting worn out. Is there anything good coming up for CarJack? I'm not expecting a reunion anytime soon, but if any other love interests get thrown into the mix, I may go storm the studio myself lol. If only we could have Jack be the one to fight for them this time. I was happy to at least see Metro again today and hope they let Carly actually have a career!
And yes it has been well over a decade that CarJackers have waited for a payoff and we're still waiting but our patience is being severly tested right now

It's the small but noticeable payoffs that count. For instance, in that 10 years, carjack has been married twice. We are still waiting for that kind of payoff for Paul and Meg.
I don't think anyone wants any of their couples to settle into complete unproblematic happiness. LOL, that gets boring, but having Paul and Meg be able to celebrate their happiness over (oh lets say) their baby for 5 minutes in one episode (before the miscarriage), doesn't count! Grrrr.....

LOL you still have nothing to complain about in comparison to CarJack. They waited 2 years to ever make love and it was 5 years before they married and then Hogan had to destroy that by throwing in Carly sleeping with Mike the night before the wedding. They got married a 2nd time basically as a we're sorry from the writers to the fans for what was done with the first wedding. So considering it's only been 2 years for Paul and Meg you are way ahead of CarJack already in payoff.

ROTFLMAO! Isn't it terrible when you start laying out the years like that? I mean, really, considering that Noah and Luke have only been together since September-ish, they've just got to sit down and wait their turn. We've got to see CarJack through, see where Paul and Meg are going to end up, see if Holden and Lily can survive another recast, wait and see if Katie's marriage with Brad will last longer than the ones to Mike or Jack...
It never ends! It's total relationship roulette! And think about it, if your favorite couple ends up happy and secure...where do you end up? Hanging out with Margo/Tom and Henry/Vienna on the backburner!

Hmmm... I think we'll have to wait a long time before we can see Luke and Noah with a payoff in the form of a wedding. Or they do it here in the Netherlands and go on location here, so I can meet Van and Jake.
But I still hope we'll get a payoff in the form of Luke and Noah making love for the first time.

I often forget that Jack and Carly waited 2 years to finally have sex..... and I was watching back then! I'd rather Luke and Noah not have to wait that long, thank you! But yeah, I think that even after the Ameera story is over there will be another crisis just waiting around the corner. Maybe they can squeeze in a smidgen of happiness in between Ameera and whatever befalls them next? Probably not!
In terms of the future story, I don't see Brad and Katie lasting. They rushed into things, I don't think Katie really truly loves him, she just wanted to be married. I suspect though that she might be pregnant (she DOES faint at the wedding) so maybe it might last at least until she gives birth.
I have this sinking feeling where the show is going with Carly and Jack. She's spending a lot of time with Holden lately and they have scenes tomorrow after barely speaking for years. Hmm......
I could care less what happens to Paul and Meg. I was tired of them 2 years ago. Either get together or break it off for good, but stop the dithering!

Mala: Thanks for your take on Ameera. That's a very interesting read on things. I wonder, considering what you said, which I mostly agree with, I wonder if the show would make Ameera into a villain working for Winston? Would they go that route? I put nothing past TPTB, so who knows?
Also, as everyone is discussing a payoff for Luke and Noah...I think most fans would just be happy if they were *allowed* to kiss like any other couple on the show. I don't see anyone demanding they rush into sex or get married all of a sudden. The fact that they aren't even allowed to kiss means they payoff for fans of the couple is getting to see them rub shoulders and jump up and down on beds like they're 5 years old, which is quite insulting to many people.
Jeannie Tharrington said she in Mala's interview that they heard the fans, but it will be interesting to see if what we see on TV reflects that. Judging from what's coming up on Friday, I say they're going the opposite route and trying their best to be as offensive to the fans as possible. That doesn't make any sense to me at all, but that's what's going down.

LOL You're so right Mala that once your couple finds happiness they take a ride to the backburner. It was really 6 years before Carly and Jack were happy and following that Montana wedding they headed to the backburner pretty much until Jack went off that bridge. It frustrates me that the writers don't think happy couples can be interesting. They can have angst without somebody coming between them. Clearing Parker would have worked just as well if Jack and Carly were happily married. I would have rather seen more of Gray's story focus more on playing cat and mouse games with Margo and Tom rather than coming between Henry and Vienna. If we saw more intrigue and adventure maybe couples could stay together longer.
I would certainly hope they aren't going anywhere with Holden and Carly. That would be the ultimate character destruction. Carly would never do that to Lily nor would Holden to Jack. Plus the first thing they need to do with a recast Lily is establish her as Lily with Holden. Looking at tomorrow's preview on the official site, it could actually be interesting if Holden and Carly finally became friends through this and eventually Holden is the one to push Jack into fighting for Carly. Anything more would end some of the only friendships that exist on the show. From that preview Holden looks like a friend and nothing more. And that is pretty nice.

You're right in that Holden would never do that to Jack.... but I wouldn't put anything past Carly if she thought it would get Jack's attention or hurt him or tick him off. This is a woman who let her children think she was dying to get a man. Going after Holden to get Jack in her sphere would be nothing to her.

But that was character destruction when they had Carly lie about dying. Carly would never have done that. I know SOD and I think SOW also called the writers on that too. Carly knows Lily is trying to work things out with Holden and she would not do that to Lily. Plus there is the fact that Holden has never liked Carly. And also that Goutman nixed a Holden/Carly pairing a few months ago.
